Melanie McQuaid is the first person to have won the XTERRA Triathlon World Championships three times and was the inaugural winner of the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championship in Spain 2011. Along with four World Championships titles, Melanie has three second place performances at the World Championships,four overall series titles, an undefeated record in Canada and five national victories at the US Championship. Consistent top performance and versatility has been Melanie's trademark on the XTERRA and half Ironman tour as she has climbed the podium for XTERRA events, national mountain bike events and road events all in the same season over the past seven years.

Melanie is also an experienced public speaker. Whether it is race clinics outlining great race strategies or in the boardroom discussing goal setting, Melanie has inspired many to pursue their own top performances. Melanie discusses stories from the race scene which illustrate the principles of tenacity, innovation, creativity, happiness and achievement.

Melanie completed a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Victoria before embarking on a 16 year professional career in athletics. Melanie raced professionally as a road and off-road cyclist, hosted her own television segment for two years, co-hosted a sports radio talk show, made guest appearances on numerous national television shows, managed a professional cycling team and appeared on major television networks including CBS, NBC, ABC, ESPN, OLN, TSN, CBC, CHUM and CH television.

Melanie is a personal coach for athletes and executives while still at the top of her game in triathlon. Melanie also represents key long term sponsors that mirror her commitment to a healthy, balanced lifestyle including organic, whole grain foods, physical activity, environmental awareness and top performance.

Melanie is an individual who has achieved the highest sporting success. In 2009 Melanie was named Triathlete Magazine's Offroad Triathlete of the Year, Triathlon Canada's Female Offroad Triathlete of the Year and won Offroad Triathlete of the Year at the Competitor Magazine Endurance Sport Awards for her 2008 season as she did for the 2006 season. For the 2005 season Melanie was ranked #3 across all triathlon disciplines in the World Ranking by Inside Tri magazine and was Triathlete Magazine and Triathlon Canada's Offroad Triathlete of the Year. . As a popular athlete and personal coach, Melanie has inspired both the present, the future and the past generation to explore their potential and to finding great success and meaning in life. Her motto is “Keep It Fun” and she applies that to all she does.
