Does anyone has any experience with the 301 Garmin Forerunner Heart Rate monitor? Maybe even some info on how it compares to the Polar models?

Hey CR66,
The biggets difference is that ALL Garmin units are GPS _base_d and use location. So, they provide distance and pace off GPS satallites and record your track (bread crumb) that you can overlay on maps. Both give you heart rate and some Polar units with foot pods provide distance. Polar are the experts in heart rate experts and Garmin are the GPS experts. The next generation of Garmin Forerunners will ship in March. Well worth the wait.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the Garmin is easier to use then the Polar ones? I know the 305 coming out looks more like a watch, the 301 looks pretty big. Is it too big to be comfortable to use for training/racing?

Has anyone heard of this new brand of heart rate monitor? Suunto?
Give me the low down on your experiences with this brand.
