Ok this may seem stupid or I at least fill stupid not knowing the answer and being a PE teacher/Health teacher.
If you are trying to lose weight and your BMR is 1638 calories, due you cut calories from that number, while adding exercise? Or do you cut calories from what you were originally taking in and add exercise?
I am perplexed by this, not sure what it should be so confusing but when I weigh myself my scale says I should eat 2600 calories to maintain weight but I need to loose and I am not sure what number to cut from. I am worried that if I only eat 1600 and cut, and exercise I will not have the energy to keep it up and I don't want to starve myself, just want to loose along with gain fitness.

I am absolutely no expert on nutrition. For a detailed analysis of what you are eating versus what you are expending.. a visit to a specialist is a good idea. I would say that the first place to start is in the sweets category. If you are eating a lot of refined, processed food with high sugar content you probably don't need that stuff. Stick to high quality grains, meats and vegetables as the staples, stay active and use common sense when it comes to treats. That is a longer term and more healthful way of managing your diet. All of this is, of course, in my own opinion.
