I think the easiest thing to do is plan ahead. If you know a week in advance what you are going to eat each day you will have a better time staying on track.
Also, stocking healthy snacks rather than junky ones keeps you eating healthy. This is tougher with kids around but they will basically adapt to whatever you are doing and it can't be a bad thing to eliminate some sugar from kids diets

cookbooks? Any cookbook with recipes you like that require the amount of time you have to prepare the recipes will work. There are thousands... I like anything from Donna Hay.
Moderation is the easiest to adhere to.
