Hi, Melanie. I do a technical MTB ride on Saturdays. About the long ride, what do you think is the best: do it on the road or on the mountain bike ? I think on the road the effort is bigger but I am worried about urologig problems generated by long rides on the road bike. Best luck on the Nationals, Luiz.

Hi Luiz,
You may need to look into a new saddle. You should not need to be concerned about long rides!
I think if you mtb one weekend day, a road ride on the other would be a good idea. But define LONG. If an XTERRA race is somewhere between 2.5-4h, that is about the length of your long ride. I usually keep my longest rides during the season to 4 hours and may do a couple of 5 hour rides in the winter during very long volume weeks. Anything longer is probably unnecessary for XTERRA races.
If you feel you need more technical practice you can mix up long mtb rides on both days as well. Whatever your needs, adjust accordingly!
Mel
