NMBS #2 - NOVA Stage Race Arizona PDF Print E-mail
Written by melanie

Tenth is much better than twentieth… but it came at the expense of the entire contingent of talented Canadian women mountain bikers. I am SO sorry for stealing your points girls… there was a non-Canadian right behind me! The cross country was a tough race to keep tires inflated… so there was quite a bit of carnage in Sunday's race. Not me, choosing the Maxxis Larson TT UST and Crossmark UST tires seemed to work very well. My problems all happened BEFORE the race and were handily solved by the time the gun went off. Fontana NMBS #1 Season Opening Report PDF Print E-mail
Written by melanie

Well the race didn't go how I had hoped but unfortunately it did go somewhat as expected. This was a low priority event that I placed in my schedule for "training", while many mountain bike girls use these NMBS events as key events for points. The difference is obvious when you look at what I was capable of doing this early in the season and some of the amazing form being displayed by the other girls right now. My New Year's Resolution was to enjoy every race, good ones and bad ones, so I will never again take for granted what I am so fortunate to be doing. So without further ado, here is the story of my first races of the season....

First off, thank you so much to all of you for sending me some incredible notes that were amusing, inspiring and entertaining. I love to hear from all of you and I appreciate every bit of support that went into this effort at Worlds. While it wasn’t what I wanted from my trip to Maui, I did do all I could to defend my 2006 title. Julie Dibens of Great Britain very clearly had a better day than any of us and her win was equally as dominant of mine from 2006. Ouch! That said, I congratulate her wholeheartedly and look forward to toeing the line next season when it is her turn to defend. I did fare a lot better than any of the other favorites for the Worlds this year in taking second place…..

XTERRA US Championships - Luck is Dumb PDF Print E-mail
Written by melanie

Looking back at the chain of events that led to my worst performance in five years at the XTERRA US Championships in Incline Village, NV leaves me shaking my head. I believe that luck is mostly a matter of preparation but despite careful planning and attention to detail I ended up sick on race day. This season has been frustrating to say the least. This picture says it all... read on for the story.
